Sun into Cancer 2009 Domestic and Emotional Tranquility

With news of North Korean threats to launch its most advanced ballistic missile at Hawaii as one of its naval vessels sets sail in that direction, House Democrats outlining healthcare reform with a $1.6 Trillion price tag in an era of historic deficit spending, 7,000 Marines dispatched to Helmand province along with increasing numbers of N.A.T.O troops to begin staging what is likely to be the decisive battle with the Taliban in the nearly 8-year-old war in Afghanistan, the World Health Organization elevating the Swine Flu/H1N1 virus to pandemic status, the mental activity of Gemini gives way to the intuitive, calming, introspective energies of Cancer, and not a moment too soon. If there are two things Cancer, America’s birth sign, craves, they are domestic stability and emotional security.

To achieve its end, Cancer walks a fine line of vulnerability and self-protection while practicing some of the Cosmos’ most immense nurturing and care-taking of others. With its favorably-aspected eclipses and annual cluster of retrograde outer planets, 2009’s Solar journey through the sign of the crab offers a chance for cooler heads, and hearts, to prevail. After the nerve-racking Gemini journey, nationally and privately, we could probably all use a collective chill pill. But Cancer is not asking us to retreat into our shells. It asks us to be of this world, to accept its complexities and atrocities, and to trust and love enough to overcome our challenges until peace is restored.

Intoning an appropriately more enigmatic resonance than usual, 2009’s Summer Solstice/Sun into Cancer movement occurs during the dark moon (Cancer’s ruler) on the 20th at 10:46pm PST. A new Cancer moon arrives on Monday the 22nd at 12:36pm PST, marking the beginning of our journey toward 2009’s next lunar eclipse which will take place on July 7th. On July 3rd the rapid-fire intellectual energies of Mercury move from Gemini into contemplative Cancer. Mercury in Cancer is much more likely to convince us to get in touch with how we feel about what is going on around us rather than what we think about it. The intellect’s natural tendency is to dissect, label and divide, so it can make rational sense of its world. By contrast, Cancer is all about creating compassion, understanding and appropriate protection by feeling its way through life, as it reaches toward tranquility.

That full Capricorn moon eclipse on the 7th, is in Cancer’s 7th house of partnerships, and features a trine with Saturn. Eclipses can bring sudden and unexpected changes as well as powerful insights. Surprises are not Cancer’s strong suit, but intuition is. With Saturn’s disciplined influence, a sensible resolution to whatever may rear its turbulent head at this time is very possible, and relationships will play a key role.

Echoing the universal chorus to choose hope, wisdom and good will over fear and over-reaction (Cancer can be a little paranoid) is friendly and benevolent Jupiter floating through Cancer’s 8th house of intimacy and transformation. “It is safe to love” is its quiet mantra. As if to hammer the message that old thinking will not solve new problems home, innovative Uranus trines the dark Cancer moon right before the solar eclipse on July 21st.

In the background, Uranus joins retrograding outer planets Neptune, Jupiter and Pluto, as well as Chiron on July 1st. Those large outer planets may be thought of as good and caring parents who lounge around on rafts in the deep end of a swimming pool while keeping a vigilant eye on their children at play in the shallower waters. It is highly unlikely that they will be called upon to rescue anyone, but their loving presence exerts a great sense of safety and well-being. In that space, their children are free to play and explore their watery paradise. The retrograde patterns of these planets will last until early November when they begin turning direct. Saturn, the only large planet now moving forward, moves into Libra at that time. What that means in practical terms is that the results of what is in play and at stake now may not be fully resolved until late Autumn. We saw this pattern last year with the November 4th U.S. election.

So what can you do right here right now to create a sense of trust when the headlines mirror a world in such distress? Gandhi wisely recommended being the change you want to see in the world. I suggest making your home your sanctuary. Having plenty of whatever makes you “feel” secure at hand, along with gurgling fountains, aromatic candles, color therapy tools, herbal bath salts, and long meditations (12Academy is offering many excellent ones) is a viable way to access Cancer’s maternal gifts. With your sense of tranquility amply restored and your inner Guidance system re-attuned to love and Light, you may emerge from the mother ship fully prepared to brave the outer world.

New Moon Eclipse

In terms of planning for this eventful lunar cycle, the word faith comes to mind. All that is sound will hold, and that which no longer serves our well-being may be released at this time. Have the courage to ask for what truly gives your life joy, and these eclipses will help you begin attaining it. This Spring marks my tenth year of reading professionally. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in all of these years of watching the stars and planets move and interact with clients’ lives, it is the power of eclipses to clear paths and promote healthy change. The first eclipse falls on February 6th, with the new moon. Btw, that is also the day Louise Hay will be a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show. I normally recommend taking stock of our lives at the dark moon in order to set clear intentions at the new moon. With this year’s first eclipse on hand to usher in this moon, reflection and clarity are of particular significance. Whether you start taking bold, decisive steps toward your goals on the 6th or simply affirm them to yourself and to the Universe, you will being doing so under very special influences and conditions. One of the best ways of determining if your intention is right for you is to ask yourself one simple question. Does this idea make my heart sing? Your body will give you the answer. Another aspect of your intention to consider with the sun and moon in aquarius is service to others. Does your goal benefit others? I’ve seen the Universe green light humanitarian efforts much faster than self-serving ones, which makes perfect metaphysical sense to me.

Once this pure and loving intention is given to the Universe, have faith that you and your endeavor will be fully supported, and listen for the Guidance that comes to you. The second eclipse at the full moon on the 20th may give your intention the grounding and direction it needs to manifest. The moon will be in virgo where saturn is, so look for very clear and concrete instructions from the Universe as to what steps to take next. To remind you, jupiter is still in capricorn where it will be until next January. So we have incredibly practical and reliable support on-hand. We may be asked to exercise our discipline (not always the fun thing to do). But if we do so, the rewards will be substantial. Then simply trust the infinite Wisdom of the Divine to make the path before you joyous and peaceful.

In terms of the wider world we live in, these insights have come to me. I believe that February will bring resolution to the writer’s strike. My sense it that it will also be another turbulent month for Wall Street, likely more so than January. Once past the storm, we’ll begin a slow, steady and very gradual recovery. We’re in a long period of economic corrections (saturn’s influence in my view). And while challenging, the changes made under these conditions will ultimately restore healthier ways of living and doing business. And in the meantime, new opportunities will be created for those adhering to and aligning with responsible practices. For example, people who have been priced out of over heated housing markets will now be able to own homes. Their loans, in contrast to ones made in the recent past, will be granted under stricter yet much wiser terms. While saturn is in virgo, investments and developments in innovative energy technologies can finally begin to relieve over dependence on foreign oil sources (thus providing greater global stability) and create much greener sources of energy. The tough love we may be forced to practice now and in the next year and a half, may well yield a much brighter tomorrow. So as February brings Super Tuesday and more primary elections to the United States, I would ask everyone to hold the intention for peace, healing and the highest and best good of our planet. Not much to ask for, right?

In closing I want to leave you with a few other notes. The video for peace that I recently made with students from N. Ireland is now on sale at iTunes. All proceeds from video sales are being donated to NICIE, who help parents establish integrated schools throughout the region. Just look it up in their music video section under the song title "Get Up" or the artist Awakening Queen Maebh. Peace for $2 - that's a bargain! In planetary news, venus (love ruler) moves into aquarius on the 17th, mercury goes direct on the 18th, the sun moves into pisces on the 19th and it will oppose saturn on the 24th. If none of that makes any sense to you, please consider doing one of the following: get a totally FREE chart at our website or have a reading with one of the very talented readers at our sites, 12Angel and 12Listen. In February we’re running a special every day of the month in celebration of 2, as in 2 eclipses, 2 hearts, 2 sites and 2 readers. In fact 2 readers will be on sale each day for this month for $2.12 per minute all day (or as long as their voices hold up!). My sale dates are the 4th and 19th with the psychic I love to flirt with the most, Keith, the 9th with one of most popular new readers DeMari, and the 29th with Drueann, my sister of Avalon. We’re so happy to work together on that day! Lastly, in announcements, another one of my friends is blooming. I love spotlighting others for this very reason, watching them grow, shine and help others with their work. Her name is Nicole and she’s launched her new website which is a virtual hub of wonderful metaphysical resources. Please visit her.

So there you have it, the mysteries of eclipses revealed, or at least my take on them and my interpretation of the bigger trends. Wishing all a very happy Valentine’s Day. For those of you curious as to what happened since we wrote abundance checks at the beginning of this moon, please see my previous blog entry. Along with follow up details to that experiment, in it I’ve also placed a ritual for creating more romantic love in your life that can be done on the 6th or 14th. This year’s Valentine’s Day has some very favorable aspects. So enjoy!

Love and light always,
Elizabeth

Valentine's Eclipses

"Kissing, kissing, kissing. Kissing should rival sex in both pleasure and excitement and it should not stop once sex begins"

Those simple words sent me blissfully over the moon. Sent by a man I had been getting to know for a few months and for whom a secret and powerful crush was rapidly developing, they confirmed that he was thinking of me romantically. Hearts went a flutter and a very passionate relationship began.

For the cynics, Valentine's Day is no more than a cruel conspiracy waged upon the single by an evil consortium of chocolatiers, card manufacturers, and florists, all orchestrated by the greedy pharmaceutical industry. For anyone who has ever experienced the gift of Love, it is a chance to celebrate life's purist and richest magic. As this year's holiday falls right smack in the middle to two eclipses, my hunch is that it will be extra potent. With that in mind, for the next few weeks I'm writing a series on love with the intention of helping everyone - single or coupled - have a truly Happy Valentine's Day in 2008.

Lesson one, the happy couple starts with you. Sobering and possibly uncomfortable as this concept may be, it's the truth. You can only attract what is going on with you. So before we get to how to find your soul mate or how she or he is behaving, we're going to work with you. Further, because I tackle white elephants head on for sport (I'm just that kind of Light Worker), this first week we'll work on unblocking the single biggest obstacle to experiencing true love, the one that leaves big, dark, heavy spots in our auras for ages until it's dragged out into the light and released. It's the baddest of all Spiritual Mofos: unforgiveness.

We all know what it feels like, that old stuck grudge or hurt that we adamantly refuse to part with. We're "right" that we were "wronged" and generally speaking, we want the perpetrator to pay for the injustice done to us. In short, we don't want to "let it go." But the truth is, the longer we cling to old wounds by withholding forgiveness, the longer we pay the price, and the more damage we do to ourselves and our lives. We may mistakenly believe that we're getting even or settling the score, but we're not. We're giving our now and our power to the past and probably to someone completely undeserving of it. This past week I ran across a story that beautifully and aptly illustrates the real value of forgiveness.

It comes from a book called "Calling in the One" by Katherine Woodward Thomas, who did a three day meditation because she thought she could not possibly forgive her ex-boyfriend/business partner for their breakup and her ousting from their once joint business. On a night when the moon was quite round, the 2nd day of the retreat, she went outside, still tied in knots of unresolved anger, and gazed at the bright moon. Soon she found herself surrounded by "a multitude of ethereal beings" who told her:

`We understand your suffering and know well of your loss. You are right that you are owed a great debt. However, we have now incurred that debt and are the ones holding it We will make sure that all that is due you will be paid above and beyond that which you can even imagine. But in order for us to do this, you must first release him, for your attachment to getting restitution from him is preventing us from being able to give you your due."

She "got it" immediately and decided right then and there to forgive her ex. Soon after she met the man she married, came into a large sum of money and was able to buy the house she had been wanting to own for years. She was also ultimately able to see clearly how her ex had helped her bring her dream of their business to life and that without him, her lack of belief in herself would have likely prevented the success they had attained. So she was able to thank and bless him for his role and for being the person who taught her to value herself and her talents and ideas.

Happiness and well-being are lovingly and patiently always waiting for us to embrace them. No one is keeping them from us, but us. The sooner we give past injustices to the Divine to reconcile, the sooner we are free to experience healing, joy and true love. On Tuesday a big, bright full moon will shine down and reach out to us, and I'm relatively certain that the "ethereal beings" who helped Katherine will be on hand. You may want to take this opportunity to say a prayer to release yourself from the past, to forgive. Whenever you are ready, love is waiting for you. And until next week remember, only retired psychics have the lottery numbers!
